OUR CORE VALUES

Here at EC we strive to live out our motto of “Engineering with Integrity, Service, and Innovation” with every project we do.

Integrity – We firmly believe that integrity is one of the most valuable commodities that exists. Proverbs 28:6 says “Better is a poor man in his integrity than a rich man who is crooked in his ways.” If we gain wealth or status but lose our integrity in the process, then we are truly poor.

Service – Client service is at the core of who we are. This is best exemplified by Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” Our work has a higher purpose than just completing a project, as the way we go about it defines who we are. Serving our clients and meeting their needs helps to shape our personal character and values.

Innovation – EC has always worked to be at the cutting edge of innovation and we pride ourselves on our ability to react quickly and stay on the wave of technology. Whether that means early adoption of CAD in the late 1980’s, 3D structural modeling in the early 1990’s, full BIM adoption in the late 2000’s, or video conferencing in the early 2010’s, EC is always looking for ways that technology and innovation can improve how we serve and meet our client’s needs.

OUR HISTORY

We are one of the oldest engineering firms in Kansas, dating back to the end of WWII. Our firm was started by Max E. Coleman in 1962. Coleman graduated from Kansas State University on the G. I. Bill and worked at various local firms before starting Engineering Consultants in 1962.

In 1973 Max hired Duane Phillips and a few years later Engineering Consultants was officially incorporated. Later Phillips would buy the company from Coleman. In 1986 Engineering Consultants proved its commitment to innovation when it was one of the first firms in the region to fully adopt computer-aided drafting.

The firm continued to grow, expanded its licensing in additional states. In 2008 the company transitioned ownership to Brent Engelland. Engelland is the current owner and has expanded the firm’s client base and staff size by remaining committed to the historical values of Integrity, Service, and Innovation.
